November 20th-Hygiene


Kelly Miller will be leading our meeting. She will be presenting "Hygiene". She is a Registered Nurse and just can't help herself....

We will also have the badminton equipment out for game playing.

Here are the requirements for our Hygiene badge.

Badminton Badge

We will be working on this badge for a few meetings. Here are the requirements:

BADMINTON RULES!
-Standard size is 20 feet wide and 44 feet long. The length and width may be modified depending of the area available, though.
-The net is stretched across the center of the court, dividing it in half. The net's height is 5’ at the center and 5’1" at the poles.

Serving: Player on right court serves when their score is "0" or an even number. Player on left court serves on odd numbered points
PLAYING: The game is played to either 15 or 21 points. The best two out of three games wins the match. Teams change court sides after each game.
A fault occurs when:
The shuttle is served overhand. The shuttle must be struck at a point not higher than the server's waist.
In serving, the shuttle falls out of bounds.
The server or player intentionally distracts, balks or obstructs his opponent.
The server in attempting to serve, misses the shuttle.
The shuttle falls outside the boundaries of the court, goes through or under the net or fails to go over the net
A player reaches over the net and hits the shuttle on the opponent's side of the court. However a player may hit the shuttle on their side of the court and follow through on the swing over the net.
If the shuttle is hit twice in succession by the same player

Flower Arranging

We handed out readings from Edith Shaeffer's book "The Hidden Art of Homemaking". Please read with your daughter.

We also brought flowers and made an arrangement.
If you missed the meeting please ask for the handout to read and complete a bouquet.

Awards: You may choose maroon sash that you place clutch back pin awards on or you may choose a bracelet with replica disk. The disks are like coin sized charms that attach to the bracelet. You may also apply your pins or disks to anything you like such as a jacket, blanket or banner.

Requirements-Girls between the ages of 4-18 are invited to join. Mothers or surrogate will be encouraged to attend with their daughters. You will be asked to coordinate one meeting every few months depending on number of girls participating. You will need to choose a project and coordinate that project to be worked on at that meeting. You will also provide snacks for that meeting. Plan the project to last 45-60 minutes. If it cannot be completed within that time please let the group know which requirements are still needed to complete the badge work.

October 23rd Meeting



We will be awarding the Butterfly and Flower Arranging badges to those who have completed the requirements. Don't forget to read the Chapter on Flower Arranging and to complete your 5 butterfly observations.



October 23rd we will be working on the Cooking and Badminton badges. Stay tuned for more information. Laura Reid will be coordinating the Cooking portion of this meeting.
